Abstract:- This paper describes a sensitive, selective, precise and stability-indicating High Performance Thin Layer chromatographic method for the determination of paliperidone as a bulk drug and in formulation. The method uses aluminium plates precoated with silica gel 60F-254 as the stationary phase and solvent system ethyl acetate: toluene: ammonia 6:1:0.5 (v/v/v). Paliperidone was subjected to acid and alkali hydrolysis, oxidation, and photo degradation. The peaks of the degradation products were well resolved from that of the pure drug and had significantly different Rf values. The linear regression analysis data for the calibration plots showed a good linear relationship over concentration range of 150-1500 ng.spot-1. The mean values of the correlation coefficient, slope, and intercept were 0.9993 ± 0.09, 5.6432 ± 0.126, and 1097.5 ± 1.14, respectively. Statistical analysis showed that the method is repeatable, selective and can separate the drug from its degradation products and can be used to monitor stability.

Abstract:- The 4-thiazolidinones is an important biological scaffold. A series of 4- thiazolidinone derivatives were synthesized from 4-amino benzoic acid. The synthesized compounds were confirmed by IR, 1H-NMR, Mass spectral data. The two synthesized compounds SS5 & SS6 were screened for anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity. Anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated by carrageenan-induced paw edema test and analgesic activity by Eddy’s hot plate method. Both the compounds showed good activity. All the experimental results were statistically significant. The anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity confirmed that the test compound SS6 showed superior activity than SS5. However, the test compounds were found to be less active than the standard drugs used.

Abstract:- Objective: This study was aimed to find out characteristics of transport of a sick referred neonate and to measure the risk factors that contribute to mortality. Method: An observational prospective study was conducted for the period of six months from 1/8/2010 to 31/1/2011 in the department of pediatrics, P.D.U.Government medical College, Rajkot, Gujarat, India. Referred newborns fulfilling inclusion criteria were enrolled in study. They were assessed in term of demographic description, referral characteristics, and condition on arrival at hospital, individual morbidity and mortality. Individual morbidity was assessed as per standard guidelines and appropriate and feasible laboratory investigations were carried out as needed. They were followed up to immediate outcome. Results: Prematurity (51.5%), Respiratory distress syndrome (43.3%), Birth asphyxia (16.1%) and sepsis (25.2%) were the main causes of referral and even mortality. Most of neonatal referrals were self or improperly organized transport and associated with inadequate prereferral stabilization, incomplete advice regarding care during transport and poor communication. Overall mortality (32.2%) of referred neonates was high. Weight less than1500 gm, prematurity <32 weeks, Hypothermia, delayed capillary filling time and significant respiratory distress were significant predictors of neonatal death. Conclusion: A significant number of neonatal deaths among referred newborns can be prevented. The development of an effective neonatal transport system is needed for proper implementation of regionalization of perinatal care and better neonatal outcome.

Abstract:- Secondary abdominal pregnancy is the gestation outside the uterus. It poses great clinical challenge to the clinician to treat and the diagnosis is tough to establish. This was case study of 30 years old primigravida presented with 8 months amenorrhea, bleeding per vaginum, pain abdomen, loss of fetal movements. There was failed induction of labor and secondary abdominal pregnancy diagnosed on review sonography. That was managed by exploratory laparotomy.

Abstract:- The growing interest in the future of dental applications of robotic dentistry is leading to the emergence of a new field called Nanodentistry. Robots can supposedly induce oral analgesia, Desensitize tooth; manipulate the tissue to re-align and straighten irregular set of teeth and to improve durability of teeth. Further it is possible that robots may be used to do preventive, restorative, curative procedures in future. Using characterization tools, a variety of oral diseases can be understood at the molecular and cellular levels and thereby prevented. Nano-enabled technologies thus provides an alternative and superior approach to assess the onset or progression of diseases, to identify targets for treatment interventions as well as the ability to design more biocompatible, microbe resistant dental materials and implants. We present a brief overview on nanotechnology in dentistry in our article.
Key Words:- nanotechnology, nanodentistry, robots.
