Abstract:- Genetic science is one of the branches of biology. By way of existing contacts and discussion in this field, we may discover similarity and dissimilarity of two living beings. In many parts of the world, the level of life expectancy has increased, while mortality rate has declined, which is mostly resulted from increased scientific knowledge and advanced equipment in human life that is in turn owed greatly to science of genetic engineering. Freedom in the domain of Genetic is mentioned in article 2 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights:"Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status." but this matter should be considered from the view point of the children themselves, which under the convention of children rights, the children must have desired personality growth and this processes begin from the early stages of life.

Abstract:- Cigarette smoke is reported to contain free radicals. These free radicals interact with the body defense system and associated health risk among Nigerian smokers have remained scarcely investigated despite the high numbers of smokers in our society. This study thus, investigates the serum total antioxidant capacity of some Nigerian cigarette smokers in apparent good health and who have smoked between 1-4 sticks of cigarette/day for about 1-3 years. Twenty(20) consenting smokers between 19 and 45 years consisting of fifteen (15) males and 5 females were recruited after examination to certify their apparent good health. Twenty (20) non-smokers, matched in age and sex were included as control subjects. Serum total antioxidant capacity (TAC) was higher in male non-smokers (1.92±0.22mM) when compared with their female counterparts (1.88±0.16mM). Among smokers, the males subjects showed a decreased TAC (Male: 1.45±0.23mM and female; 1.65±0.16mM) with a strong statistical difference between the TAC of smokers and non-smokers (t=2.095, n=20 and P≤0.05). Data suggest lower oxidant defense and hence, increased susceptibility to free radical associated diseases especially among the male smokers. Concerted efforts should be made by governmental agents to enforce legislation that could reduce the rate of smoking. Campaigns should also be initiated to educate the lay public on the dangers of cigarette smoking.

Abstract:-
Aim: To identify and co-relate various factors affecting the outcome in children with Scorpion sting envenomation and treatment done by standard protocol using prazosin. Method: This is a prospective study of scorpion sting affected cases in children ( 1-15yrs of age) admitted and treated in dept. of pediatrics , Jhalawar medical college, Rajasthan during the period of January 2010 to December 2011.Permission was taken from Ethical committee of the college before starting the study. Consent was taken from the close relative of the patient. General characteristics of the prazosin. children, anatomic site of the sting, seasonal pattern, clinical and laboratory findings, treatment approaches, complications and outcomes recorded. Result: A total of 61 children of Scorpion sting envenomation admitted in that period. Prevelance of male child’s were found to be 57.3%. Out of them 83.6% cases belongs to rural areas. Extremities were most common site of sting (95%).62% of sting cases occurred in summer months. Local pain, perspiration and cold extremities were seen in almost all cases. The standard treatment followed with the use of prazosin after admission. Mortality seen in only 4.91% of cases. Conclusion: Early hospitalization and administration of accurate dose of prazosin and closely monitoring vitals of the patients in intensive care unit will save many lives.

Abstract:-Nocardia is an uncommon pathogen in immunocompetent patients; however, it has been increasingly recognized as a significant opportunistic pathogen in immunocompromised individuals. A 35 year old male patient presented with fever and multiple erythematous swellings over right supraclavicular and post auricular region. The swellings were with multiple discharging sinuses. Patient is a known case of miliary tuberculosis and is HIV seropositive. Gram stain of pus showed presence of slender, gram positive, branching, filamentous bacilli. Modified Ziehl Neelsen stain revealed numerous acid fast branching filamentous organisms with beaded appearance. On culture the isolate was identified as Nocardia asteroides.
Keywords:-Nocardia asteroids, generalized nocardiosis, infection in immunocompromised.

Abstract:- The effects of lycopene supplementation on PCB induced endocrine interference caused by PCBs in rat Sertoli cells of PCBs exposed adult rats was investigated. The severity of the endocrine disruption was determined by measuring Traits of reproductive organs; sperm characteristics, testicular histological findings, plasma testosterone levels and the testicular tissue oxidative status were determined. Induction of PCB to rats decreased sperm concentration (p<0.05) and sperm motility (p<0.001), increased total abnormal spermrates (p<0.05) as compared with the control group. An increase in testes malondialdehyde concentrations (p<0.05) and glutathione peroxidase activities (p<0.001) were detected while significant decreases in glutathione levels (p<0.001) in PCB alone group when compared to control group. While pre-treatment with lycopene restoring only malondialdehyde concentrations, its post-treatment caused normalization in both malondialdehyde and glutathione levels when compared with the PCB alone group. On the other hand, significant increases were determined in GSH-Px activities in all experimental groups when compared with the control group. In conclusion, lycopene supplementation was found to be able to diminish the severity of PCB induced endocrine disruption.
